The human brain is an incredibly complex organ.

It goes far beyond basic calculations and storing information.

It can spark innovation through reflection.

But, you might be wondering how this is even possible.

Well, allow me to explain through this inspiring example.

Meet Lewis Hornby, whose grandmother was once hospitalized for dehydration.

Determined to make a difference, Lewis embarked on a journey to create a product that would help the elderly who were also dehydrated.

Working with doctors, speech and language therapists, and dieticians, contributed to making a remarkable solution called Jelly Drops.

Jelly Drops were simple yet innovative.

They are bite-sized treats containing 95% water that increase fluid intake in a fun and enticing manner.

This solution addressed a common problem of dehydration among the elderly, which was responsible for hospital admissions and mortality.

Just understanding the needs and challenges faced by others and using that knowledge can drive innovation to create a solution.

Innovations don’t require to be some complex or elaborate solution.

The simplicity of innovation doesn’t necessarily mean a lack of impact.

Using simplicity to address everyday problems can create solutions that are user-friendly, intuitive, and highly effective.

Think about everyday examples like food delivery, digital payment services, online shopping or GPS.

They provide a solution to people regularly that removes difficulty in their life.

In addition, our experiences provide us with moments that give us inspiration or motivation to solve a problem in our life.

Therefore we should not leave our experiences unexamined or not investigated because we will lose hidden gems for inspiration to take steps that may ultimately change our trajectory in life.

Whether that be situations where you struggled with exams or found it difficult to wake up in the morning.

If you attempt to find a solution for yourself, you never know how many other people may find that useful.

I will provide 3 helpful tips that can help you begin your reflective journey to inspire some inspiration to take action on your creativity

  1. Journalling — reflect on your experiences which can uncover patterns, and generate new ideas and perspectives that can encourage you to take action.
  2. Being in a quiet place — By setting away for quiet reflection, you can become more present at the moment and explore your thoughts and emotions.
  3. Have conversations — Consider different perspective and thought from other individuals that can expand your thinking, challenge your assumptions, and consider different approaches.

That’s all for today, but remember our experiences have an opportunity to shape our future and others, so reflect on them.
