Do you have that too-familiar experience, where you feel you are re-living the same day over and over?

Not able to discern any aspects of your day from the previous.

Not making any progress in your knowledge, skill sets, personal or professional life.

Any type of courage or intention to change your day but ends up returning to your habits.

That constant feeling of stagnation and being trapped in a repetitive endless cycle.

This experience can be very distressing and frustrating.

But what can be done to make a change? Hopefully, this article with provide you with some actionable tips to make that change

Shake it up

Recognizing that your day possesses persistent patterns in your daily routine.

Therefore be intentional by breaking up the persistent pattern and start with something different to change your perspective or experience

Rather than getting up from bed, going to the bathroom and eating breakfast.

Break that cycle.

Try to maybe go for a walk and enjoy the sun outside before eating breakfast or maybe try some journalling in the morning to get your brain thinking.

Or give yourself a challenge such as reducing your social media usage or preparing for a marathon.

Anything that can bring a sense of curiosity into your life such as new experiences and interactions can bring the best out in you. It makes life more interesting by learning new things, meeting people and learning more about yourself in terms of your weakness and strengths.

It’s important to try this for self-discovery, personal growth and cultivating a sense of curiosity in life to become the best version of yourself.

Goal formation

Without any intention, you can lose direction.

Many of us go into life, without an intention. Drifting through life without any vision, goals, objectives or aims

This can lead us to feel lost therefore not pursuing things that are adventurous or provide some meaning. Because we haven’t set anything yet.

You should decide on a goal that you want to have such as reading a book once a week, exercising daily or writing.

Then Break it down into achievable goals

  • How are you going to read weekly — read 50 pages a day in the morning or 25 pages in the morning and 25 pages in the afternoon.
  • Exercise daily — doing home workouts such as jumping jacks, push-ups, sits ups for 15–20 minutes daily.
  • Writing daily — write anything that you are interested in and write more than 200 words daily

Taking a note or a journal documenting your journey can be a motivational boost to observe your progress over a period of time.

Reflective

Reflection is a powerful tool that if acted upon can impact your life.

Many times, we repeat certain elements of our routine that are not beneficial characteristics to have, whether that is watching Youtube before sleeping which keeps us up until late in the night or waking up extremely late.

Repeating these cycles can feel that we are not progressing in our life. These bad habits are draining our life away.

You have to take responsibility for your actions and start to change now.

It can be a difficult challenge to be reflective on situations you are regretful about but it is better than staying in a position you were in 1 year ago or 5 years ago.

Final Thoughts

Having particular activities that do feel like you are living in the same day over and over but you are sharpening your sword before your cut the tree. Then that’s a good position to be in.

I am referring to the position where you are not learning or levelling yourself up and feel you are living in the same day over and over. You have to take action and start from somewhere. The smallest change in your routine, whether that is fixing your bed, waking up an hour earlier or going to walk to work rather than bus. These can compound to something gargantuan

Striving and struggling to make yourself the best version is important but don’t lose sight of self-care and self-compassion.
