In the current climate of a technology-driven world, the growing question that can sprout out with our increasing interaction with technology is:

What is Your Screen Time?

This is quite an interesting question.

As it makes you ponder your relationship with technology.

The tool that you always go to when you are bored, scrolling on it while you are waiting for a bus or to occupy yourself while eating lunch.

Undoubtedly, it has been incorporated into your life.

Before we consider the time spend on the phone, the first question that you should ask yourself is, Why did you even use it?

That natural and almost instinctive swipe of the hand to grab your phone from your pocket and use muscle memory to effortlessly navigate to a specific social media application can be due to the accumulation of bad habits.

This can be a common scenario for many. This disturbing habit that we have scripted within ourselves. This action needs rewiring and rescripting to redefine our relationship with our phones.

Being on a phone can feel as if you are in a different time dimension as 1 hour on social media can feel like 5 minutes.

The realization of time spent on your phone can shake you up and make you realize the important considerations while using technology.

Therefore we have to make it something we control, rather than you being controlled by that feeling of instant gratification from it.

Alternatively, the situation where someone is intentional and wise with their phone using it to communicate with business partners, keep up with their schedule and learn online.

Rather than spending it wasteful, the number of hours spent on the phone might not seem like a big problem.

The act of taking advantage of technology rather than falling into the reality of the consumption of technology is a challenge but being proactive with our relationship can be the first step.

Despite having that pure intention of using technology for good use, we can sometimes forget our primary intention.

As this can unintentionally begin to spill into excessive usage of technology resulting in staying up later, wasting time, procrastinating, not developing our social skills or getting lazy.

Therefore observing the number of hours you spend on your phone can be a beneficial starting point to start reflecting on your relationship with your phone and time.

It can be looked at as a cue or a prompt to cultivate change or to review your intention with technology.

With the continuous implementation of technology in our life, monitoring your use can give your a better understanding of your relationship with technology.
