Consistency.

This a term we come across many times seeking personal development advice.

Whether we stumble upon it in podcasts, YouTube videos or productivity books.

The message itself is extremely Important.

Consistency is the glue that holds the pieces of progress together.

Imagine rolling a snowball to make a snowman and suddenly you stopped for a few days. What would happen?

The snow would probably melt, ruining your progress.

You would be left with regret.

Consistency maintains the competency of the action, it builds momentum and a foundation for progression.

By establishing routines and demonstrating the determination to perform our daily habits, can extend this discipline to other aspects of our lives.

Having the capacity to vision your goal and be consistent with it, empowers us to achieve whatever we put our mind to.

This is an extremely powerful tool to make a beneficial impact on the world.

Moreover, consistency fosters honesty and reliability.

This is important when things don’t go as planned, as having those honest conversations and the ability to identify and address problems.

By harnessing the power of compounding, where small, consistent actions and improvements accumulate to produce significant results.

However, our exploration of consistency isn’t complete without addressing one vital factor: deliberate practice.

Consistency must be accompanied by deliberate practice to facilitate improvement

Take typing as an example. We type every day, whether it’s writing reports, essays, or emails.

Yet, the average typing speed is a mere 40 words per minute, despite the extensive time we spend typing.

You might be expecting at least 100 words per minute.

Similarly, when it comes to reading, we often struggle to read quickly and efficiently.

Despite reading articles, posts on social media, messages or books.

Therefore from these examples, we can understand that accompanying consistency with a deliberate intention to get better will shift your behaviour and actions to act in a manner to improve your action.

This deliberate practice focusing areas of improvement and employs targeted strategies to enhance performance.

For instance, if you want to improve your reading skills, don’t just passively read.

Take note of unfamiliar words, search for their meanings, and actively expand your vocabulary

Having this purposeful practice will allow you to be intentional and not be doing an action mindlessly.

Always seeking that opportunity to grow and improve.

This deliberate intention allows you to have a clear objectives and engage in purposeful activities to push you towards another level that you didn’t think would be possible.

That’s all for me today, but remember engaging in deliberate practice allows you to be intentional with your actions to achieve mastery when combined with consistency.

If you found this beneficial, why not give a clap and share your thoughts
