Changing Your Perspective to avoid mistakes people regret
Many of us hear familiar pieces of advice that in principle we should act upon but in reality, we rarely do. Without implementing the advice, we would see the result of our heedlessness and become extremely regretful or remorseful.
To put it into perspective, some examples include:
- Ignoring beneficial advice you were given
- Stopped going to the gym due to laziness
- Not learning in later parts of your life
- Not planning to organizing your time can result from you in wasting time and going on social media
- Not taking advantage of time
We must change our perspective towards the information we acknowledge as true but often overlook. Applying this knowledge will put us ahead of the learning curve and develop a skill of adaptability to adjust to feedback.
Don’t be someone who realizes the importance of the advice they were given before it’s too late.
We don’t want to be someone who lays in their death bed thinking, only if… I did this or I did that. YOU MUST ACT NOW!
Ways to gain perspective back
Having a regular reminder of that advice such as visiting the graveyard for the remembrance of death, meditation to continuously be grateful or a journal to document the progress you made to not give up on your dreams
Using reminders can be extremely important as we are vulnerable to forgetting information regularly.
- Being constantly reflective
Reflecting on our personal experiences on how the advice applies to us and situations where we didn’t follow the advice can be important to motivate us to take action.
EXAMPLE — believing that life is short, by reflecting on your experiences where you endlessly spent time on social media scrolling for hours to realize you wasted the whole day, can be a scenario you can reflect on regularly to motivate you to not repeat it.
2. Making an action plan
Organizing what particular activities or actions you are required to take to follow the advice such in terms of believing that life is short: you should practice gratitude, build a strong relationship and don’t shy away from the experience that you are worried to take.
Building a regular habit of this plan involving putting yourself out of your comfort zones or connecting with loved ones regularly. However taking the first step is important.
3. Adjust your approach
Sometimes it can important to ensure that our actions are related and according to our values and morals. It can be beneficial to gain advice from others to consider a different perspective on your activities such as how to make time more meaningful with others
Final Thoughts
Being honest with yourself and considering whether you truly believe the statements you claim by the tongue, you must display that with action such as if you know time is precious, you wouldn’t waste it going on social media.
It is extremely important to hasten towards the first steps of making that change because you will be grateful in the short and long term.
